SO WHAT DID WE THINK?
Umami is one of those places we've been meaning to visit but just never got round to so when we were invited to go along we jumped at the chance.
The outside of the restaurant was clean, tidy, well kept, very inviting and the signage is bright and appealing. The interior is equally as stylish, inviting and well kept. Even the ladies room is very modern, stylish and tastfully decorated and finished.
We were greeted by a lovely pleasant member of staff upon arrival and shown to our comfortable dining area. Our drinks order was taken from by a waiter at the table promptly and we were left to help ourselves to the amazing choice of foods from Chinese, Japanese, Itallian and of course traditional British Roast...
The one thing I do love about all you can eat Buffet restaurants is that they are great for children to try out new foods. With a 9 year old and a teenager in tow it was a relaxing experience allowing them to choose exactly what they wanted to eat and also try out a small sample of new foods from around the World.
The Buffet area was lovely and clean, well topped up with piping hot fresh food and a wonderful selection of starters, mains and desserts. (Sadly the ice cream machine was out of order much to the disappointment of the kids.)
The whole family enjoyed a range of dishes from around the world all beautifully cooked. The sushi bar was definatley a big hit with the teeneager and my personal favorite was the beef and mushrooms where the beef was cooked beautifully and almost melted in the mouth. Lovely to see the desserts in small portions meaning you could actually make a small plate with a few selections. The waiters made sure tables were cleared promptly and checked in to see if we needed more drinks when relevant, just the right amount of attention without feeling intrusive.
We would definatley recommend Umami in Telford for a delicious family meal, especially if you each love different food varieties.
To recap... Lovely welcoming restaurant, pleasant atmosphere and delicious food for all the family.
