GardenOur Verdict
The Fiskars range of garden product with multi-changeable heads are great, less to store and well designed for ease of use and more than able to do the job. At first glance I was concerned about the amount of plastic parts, how tough they would be and how long they would last. After unpacking I tried the quick swap mechanism, it was easy to use, meant I had only one pole to store and felt sturdy when the head was attached. We got to test three attachments, first I tried the broom, the handle was strong and the bristles dealt well with clearing the patio and the decking. With a choice of brush heads on their website you can get a brush head specifically for each job.
After testing the first attachment I realised that my first concern about toughness may have been unnecessary, so on to the leaf rake. Having a couple of large oak trees overlooking my garden means that autumn brings leaves by the wheelie bin full and then some. I mostly use a leaf blower but find it doesn't work well when it's rained. In the past I have used a metal leaf rake with very spikey fingers, the plastic wider fingers of the Fiskars worked surprisingly well. Much so that I massively prefer it to my metal rake, the plastic instead of digging into the soil bends slightly to the contours of the ground not damaging the grass whilst grabbing the leaves. It made much lighter work of the leaves than my metal friend and left me feeling happy taking far less time than expected.
Onto the Fiskars grubber, this had metal head spikes and did the job well. I already had a full metal version with dedicated pole and this product matched it with ease. The key benefit to having this version is it being detachable and easy to store.
Overall
The Fiskars quick fit range are well made and do the job, the detachable heads means they can be stored in a box easily and you only need to store one pole. You can also order plenty more attachments to add and it means more for the environment on packaging, postage and less to throw away is one part breaks. The leaf rake in particular was great, I would suggest being more gentle with it that using a metal version, but as it works better less effort is required anyway.
